Pfluger-Rock School of Music has taught hundreds of people how to play the drums since opening in 2000. Lessons are offered at our school, conveniently located at 100 West Pflugerville Pkwy. We're about one mile west of the Super Walmart on 685.
Our qualified drum teachers have university degrees in music and have experience teaching children and adults. Lessons are all conducted on real acoustic drum sets in our individual teaching rooms. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons or observe classes through glass windows in the doors.

What is the best age to start taking drum lessons?
We recommend a minimum age for drum students of around 8-9 years of age depending on physical size and maturity level. However, there are exceptions so it's always best to call. Adults can get started at any age.
Reasons to study drum lessons with us:
- Beginning to advanced students are welcome.
- We have degreed drum teachers with university-level training in all styles of music.
- We have multiple teachers on staff, and several lesson days and times from which to choose.
- We use nationally recognized teaching materials; in addition, students can choose their own materials in order to achieve specific goals.
- Instruction is given in hand techniques such as: German grip, French grip, matched and traditional grip Moeller stroke, and Finger stroke.
- Rudimental drumming in preparation for marching band and drumline is offered.
- Critique and guidance is offered to students who are participating in school band or competing in U.I.L. competitions.
- Students are taught music transcribing and ear training skills that promote self-study.
- Lessons in double-bass drumming are offered.
- Drum students have the option to perform with full bands in organized student concerts to showcase what they've learned.
- Lessons are private one-on-one lessons -- not group lessons.
- Lessons are taught on real acoustic drum sets -- not practice pads or electronic drum sets.
- Two drum sets are used during lessons so that teacher and student can play simultaneously.
